Funding partners include the Proven VCTs, Cushman & Wakefield & Fifth Wall
WiredScore, the company setting the global standard for technology in the built world through education and certification via WiredScore and SmartScore, has today announced it has raised US$15M in Series B funding.
Led by the ProVen VCTs, WiredScore is also partnering with key participation from notable strategic and venture fund investors including Cushman & Wakefield, Crow Holdings, and Taronga Ventures, in addition to core returning investors Fifth Wall, Bessemer Venture Partners and Jona Capital.
This round brings WiredScore’s total funds raised to date to US$28M. Capital from this round in particular will be aimed at further accelerating WiredScore’s vision of becoming recognised and trusted as the leading voice for tech in the built world.
William Newton, President and MD, WiredScore, commented: “In recent years, the real estate industry has been well and truly put through its paces. Confronted with macro economic, political and societal change, the world must place a new emphasis on how we interact with our buildings and the role they play in our future.
“For the industry to rise to these challenges we must put technology at the heart of our strategies. But not technology for technology’s sake, instead by focusing on the outcomes that technologies can drive for the users of real estate. Only then will we have a lasting impact.
“I am delighted that our new investors will allow us to accelerate our plans to further empower the built world and those who live, work and connect in it, enabling us to bring connected, smart real estate to one billion people in the next decade.”
The news follows a year of aggressive expansion for WiredScore, both domestically and internationally. Most notably, the company has expanded into 13 new countries, boosting its presence across Northern and Central Eastern Europe as well as debuting in APAC with the opening of its Singapore office. Most recently, WiredScore launched its Accredited Professionals Program within the UK and North America with companies including CBRE, C&W, JLL, Lendlease as well as Savills. The program, which equips individuals with the skills needed to best advise their clients on delivering profound, world-class connectivity and smart tech, currently boasts in excess of 650 professionals from over 275 companies.
Over the next 24 months, WiredScore plans to expand its geographic footprint across North America and APAC as part of its mission of making the world’s buildings smart and better connected.
Eyal Malinger, Partner at Beringea, the investment manager of the ProVen VCTs, commented: “WiredScore has firmly established itself as a leader in the real estate industry for prioritizing and enhancing a tech-enabled approach. There is a current, very real problem facing the sector: developers, consultants, and real estate owners are desperate to make buildings smart, well connected and competitive, but there are few common frameworks for evaluating these attributes which is hampering innovation globally.
“WiredScore solves this dilemma by providing globally recognized standards, giving landlords, developers and tenants clear direction on how to deliver and operate in buildings that place technology at their heart.”
“We are excited to be a part of this journey with WiredScore and to have our people join the Accredited Professionals Program, which enables Cushman & Wakefield to provide world-class services to our clients by drawing on global best practices for in-building technology,” said Oliver Skagerlind, Global Head of Client & Business Solutions at Cushman & Wakefield. “Through this relationship, we can support our employees and clients in staying on the cutting edge of advancements in technology that are transforming real estate. We look forward to expanding on our success in Europe to offer the program to Cushman & Wakefield colleagues around the world.”
WiredScore is empowering people and spaces through tech, setting the global standard for tech in the built world via certification and education. Since its inception in early 2013, over 800m square feet of commercial and residential space has committed to WiredScore certification, impacting 8 million people across 27 countries.
