Limitless possibility: Why we backed a travel company opening the world to millions

Following the ProVen VCTs’ investment in Limitless Travel, Kiu Kim, Investment Director at Beringea, reflects on the decision to back a business opening travel to all

We were delighted to welcome Limitless Travel to the ProVen VCTs' portfolio earlier this month. Founded in 2015, Limitless is on a mission to make travel accessible for people with disabilities and mobility challenges, many of whom have not had the opportunity to enjoy a holiday in years.

The business is already changing lives. For many of its customers, a trip with Limitless isn’t just a holiday — it’s the chance to regain a sense of normalcy. The company provides full-service, accessible holidays with professional carers, and the only provider in the UK offering this level of support at scale.

We’re proud to have led Limitless’ £6.5m Series A round and to be supporting them on the next leg of their journey. Here’s why we invested.

1. A founder with purpose — and uniquely positioned to understand customer needs

Limitless Travel’s founder & CEO, Angus Drummond, began his career in investment banking, when he was diagnosed with a degenerative muscular condition in 2014, severely impacting his mobility. Rather than retreat from the world, he took a bold step — he left his job, bought a one-way ticket, and set off to explore 35 countries.

During this time, he discovered that travelling with a disability is far more difficult than it should be. Flights, accommodation, excursions — every part of the experience lacked proper accessibility and support. That journey became the foundation for Limitless.

Today, Limitless Travel offers fully supported, group-based holidays across the UK and Europe, designed specifically for people with disabilities or mobility issues. The company provides end-to-end support — from planning and transport through to accommodation and activities — with qualified carers available throughout the trip to ensure travellers are safe, comfortable, and confident.

Angus leads from the front, but he’s not alone. Several members of his team live with disabilities themselves, and their insights shape the entire customer experience — from the itineraries they design to the way the business recruits and trains its carers. It’s clear that Limitless is not just building a business, it’s building a better, more inclusive travel industry.

Angus has already been recognised as a Barclays Social Entrepreneur of the Year, one of the Shaw Trust’s most influential disabled people in the UK, and he recently received the John Hays Award for innovation in travel. But more important than accolades are the clarity of his vision and the authenticity of his leadership.

2. A customer experience that speaks for itself

It’s often said that the best businesses create customers who sell the product for you. That’s certainly the case with Limitless. Their trips are not just well-reviewed — they’re emotionally resonant and inspire confidence. For many travellers, these holidays represent their first chance to see the world again in years, and that creates a level of loyalty most brands can only aspire to.

Nearly half of all customers return for a second holiday and rebook within 12 months. Some even book their next trip whilst still on holiday! Limitless’ customer satisfaction isn’t limited to reviews or anecdotes. It translates directly into repeat business and strong average booking values. There’s a clear sense that this is a product people not only want, but need. Everyone deserves to be able to go on holiday.

3. A large, overlooked market hiding in plain sight

The scale of the opportunity Limitless is addressing is vast — and growing. According to the Office for National Statistics, around 16.1 million people in the UK have a disability or mobility issue. Astonishingly, an estimated 30% of them don’t travel at all, not because of affordability, but because of a lack of access and support. That’s around 4.8 million people in the UK alone who are excluded from something many of us take for granted.

There’s also a powerful commercial case. The collective spending power of disabled people and their households is referred to as the Purple Pound, and Visit Britain estimates that the annual value of the Purple Pound in England’s tourism sector alone is around £14.6 billion.

As Marina Snellenberg, Head of Accessibility at TUI Cruises, recently shared at a panel with Angus:

“We’ve recently shifted the conversation from moral obligation to commercial strategy. Travellers with access needs spend more, stay longer, book earlier, travel more often, and often in larger groups.”

In other words, inclusion is not just the right thing to do — it’s a smart investment. Limitless is one of the few companies in the sector truly positioned to meet this demand at scale.

4. A strong foundation for growth

Limitless benefits from high repeat rates, premium pricing, and a customer base that values and is willing to pay for a high-quality, fully supported experience.

As the Birmingham-based company continues to scale, we believe these fundamentals will remain strong and only improve. The team has built a platform that can serve more customers, more frequently, and with increasing efficiency. In a market that has seen little innovation, Limitless stands out not just for its mission, but for its operational excellence.

At the ProVen VCTs, many of our investments have the potential to create both financial and societal value — and Limitless Travel embodies both. It’s a company that sees people too often overlooked by the travel industry and chooses to serve them with dignity, care, and ambition.

We’re excited to be joining Angus and the team on their journey. Not just to grow a category-defining business, but to help redefine what inclusive travel can look like — for millions of people here in the UK and beyond.
